The Trailer Zone: Sony’s Sly Cooper Makes It To The Big Screen in 2016
It might seem weird that I am writing about how awesome it is to see Sly Cooper in a CGI-feature film. I have never played a Sly Cooper game in my life. I have seen gameplay of a couple of games in the franchise and was always interested enough to play it myself. I know, I know. The Sly Cooper Collection is already available. One day, my reader. One day I will own that collection…
So why the sudden cash flow into making a Sly Cooper movie? I think Sony is trying to earn some extra cash by putting up some of their most beloved characters that have long been in hiatus with a new game to their franchises. And why not? It’s not a live action movie (thank God). Therefore, Sony has my blessings.
“Sly Cooper is a kinetic and comedic heist film that tells the story of Sly Cooper, an orphaned raccoon thief, along with his childhood friends and partners in crime, Bentley Turtle and Murray Hippo. In the film, Sly learns of his birth family’s secret legacy; that he comes from a long line of talented and international thieves. Endowed with this knowledge, Sly and his friends are catapulted into a global adventure as they race to reassemble pieces of an ancient book holding The Cooper Clan’s family secrets before it can fall into the hands of Clockwerk — an evil Russian metallic owl bent on ending the Cooper family line. From romantic Parisian backdrops to the lush mountains of China, gritty film noir meets bright, colorful graphic novels in this origin story of the world’s greatest thief-turned-hero.”
That brief summary seals the deal for me. Hopefully the kids that attend the screening actually know who Sly Cooper is from the Sony Playstation systems. It would suck that they didn’t have the experience of playing him before going to see him on the big screen. Shoot, I should be taking my own advice, right?
